Certifying Staff Base Maintenance?

Differentiation:

1-Base Maintenance Large Aircraft

2-Base Maintenance Other than Large Aircraft

 What does "Large Aircraft" mean?  



Large Aircraft:

● an aircraft, classified as an aeroplane with a maximum take-off mass of more than 5 700 kg


or

● multi-engined helicopter

[Commission Regulation (EC) No 2042/2003 of 20 November 2003 – Article 2(g)]   Certifying Staff Base Maintenance Large Aircraft?   Certifying Staff (Base Maintenance Large Aircraft)   only Part-66 Cat. C

in addition sufficient aircraft type rated staff qualified as category B1, B2 support staff as appropriate

Release to Service

● following maintenance on aircraft


● apply to the aircraft in its entirety

Base Maintenance Large Aircraft,

i.e. Certifying Staff = Cat. C + B1, B2 Support Staff

or

[Commission Regulation (EU) No 1149/2011 of 21 October 2011 – 145.A.30(h)2]     Certifying Staff = B1, B2, B3 personnel
